About the Artist
Tara creates abstract works with a variety of media including strips of dried acrylic paint she likes to call "palette trash." She uses this recycled material for entire works as well as collaging into acrylic and oil paintings rich with texture. An artist for more than three decades and former high school art teacher, Tara finds endless visual inspiration during walks in her historic Baltimore neighborhood.Artist's Statement
Each work starts with a visual inspiration– a dusting of green vegetation over rocky soil, glistening roasted beet flesh under its own charred skin, patina on battered metal– and then takes on a life of its own as each layer influences the next. The inspiration might carry through to the final layer, or it might just be a luscious glint that catches your eye and beckons you across the room.Featured Work

Gold Over Twlight
Mixed media
2019
Mixed media painting in cool twilight hues with gold foil and collage elements. The gold foil changes with the light-- soft in the morning, brightly reflective at midday, and seemingly lit from within during the evening.
