About the Artist
Teresa Kearney is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and began her training at Walbrook Senior High Communication and the Arts under the direction of Beverly Marshall-Luney. While in high school she furthered her training in ballet, modern and jazz techniques at Peabody Institute. During this time Teresa was a featured dancer on television shows Soul of the City and Moonman Connection. Ms.Kearney’s passion for dance continued at University of Maryland Baltimore County as a Dance major. In 1980 she won the chance to compete in Merv Griffin’s hit show Hollywood’s Dance Fever, where she and her partner were awarded 2nd place. Following their success on HDF they traveled around the nation competing in various dance competitions. Over the decades Teresa has had an illustrious career as a professional dancer and dance teacher, actress, Radio Deejay, and also dabbled in Real Estate and Insurance. Most recently in 2022, Ms Kearney returned to UMBC as a Golden Id Student to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Dance. Teresa Kearney proves that anyone at any age can continue to learn, move and grow.
