Tim Doherty

Drawing, Painting, Sculpture / Installation, Visual / Media

Tim draws on his classical training at MICA and his love of pop art to create dramatic images of death and decay against bright rainbows of neon and drab tones. His inspiration often comes from renaissance art, taxidermy, skulls and bones, as well as his daily life and the birth of his daughter.

About the Artist

Born in Connecticut in the 1980’s, Tim moved to Baltimore after high school to pursue his passion for art and studied sculpture at MICA. His love for the city has compelled him to stay for 20 years and counting, making Baltimore his permanent home. He’s a local fixture in the community, a stand out with his stature and a booming baritone voice. After a successful career as a welder and furniture maker, his day job is building props for TV and movie sets. You can find him ambling around Greektown and Highlandtown with his spirited two-year-old daughter and partner of 7 years.
