My work in watercolor is driven by a need to express the power the simplest of brush strokes can imply. I want my work to have a poetic voice that speaks to the viewer in whispers. My story is within the work, but I invite the viewer to weave their own story into the work.
About the Artist
I began my life long journey of creating art in the fashion and interior design field, but soon grew to a more expressive form of watercolor and mixed media work. I am located in western Maryland and my work can be found in many regional shows. I am stepping back into a whole new experience of celebrating my painting style. I hope to find a broad audience for my expressive watercolors. My artwork offers a feeling of calm and appreciation for the organic and natural world that is slowly falling away from our daily life. My artwork offers a voice of serenity. The medium of watercolor allows me the freedom to intuitively develop a fluid expression and depth of texture. My work references an autobiographical time when I grew up in the Appalachian coal country with a minimal amount of security for the basic needs, but an abundance of appreciation for having enough. I use the medium to express contemporary and modern tone of contemplative serenity.Artist's Statement
My style of watercolor is an abstraction and expressive voice that retains notes of the organic world. I create moments of experience and interpretation in color and texture.Featured Work

The melancholy of landscapes...from so little the elements become so much
Watercolor
2021
The origins of this series is as simple as my own childhood. I grew up in Appalachia without security of much other than shelter and the surrounding hidden moments of beauty in the landscape. Gray coal dust settled on everything that did not move fast enough. The beauty resting just below that gray supports the life above.

The melancholy of landscapes... awaits the marigolds and buttercups
Watercolor
2021
A serene and contemplative work based on the acceptance of a gray that settles on the Appalachian coal country landscape. The promise of the yellow and joy of life emerges each spring. Living with a minimal amount of hope to be enough.
