Vinay Kalachar

About the Artist

Vinay Kalachar is an award‑winning sculptor and multidisciplinary artist based in Frederick, Maryland. Working in clay and stone alongside oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed‑media painting, he makes work that bridges figurative and realist traditions with modern and contemporary vocabularies. Trained from age six by his father and mentor Shilpi R. Kalachar, a national award‑winning sculptor in India, Vinay’s practice is grounded in a lineage of craft and close technical apprenticeship. He investigates the convergence of form, material, and cultural narrative, using scale, surface, and gesture to evoke memory, identity, and lived experience. His sculptures and paintings have received international recognition, are held in private collections across the United States and India, and are shown in leading galleries throughout the DMV.
