About the Artist

Liz is an emerging photographer with a lifelong passion for adventure and wildlife. She has long worked to connect people to the outdoors and conservation through years as a public interest activist and as an outdoor leader, teacher, and guide with the Sierra Club and REI. Her work as a photographer is a continuation of those efforts. Through the global pandemic, Liz's "bird-a-day" project has become a source of joy for many suffering through such a difficult year; giving people a connection to and education about birds. In May, 2021, she took part in the Ayatana Artists' Research Program, Parliament of Owls residency; she’s training as a Maryland Master Naturalist Certificate this fall, 2021; and she plans to begin a project entitled “Love Them to Death” to work on growing the appreciation for invasive species in 2022. Loving the outdoors comes with wanderlust, so Liz goes on the road to take photographs part of the year, and is home in Columbia, Maryland with her partner, Mike, and three dogs the rest of the year.  Find Liz at her website: www.wildliz.com or on Instagram @lizguertin.
