About the Artist

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and resident of the Greater Washington DC area, Yvette Spears is a performing artist who has numerous recognitions through her collaborations with many renowned Jazz artists.  Yvette was introduced to performance at an early age growing up in NOLA as a Jazz Vocalist, in theatre, and also an opportunity as an "on-air" talent for former BETonJazz.     Today, Yvette's vocal concepts in performance are expressed in a dynamic concept she calls "Voices from the Jazz Boutique"- venturing into compelling areas of Jazz while keeping contact with the music's point of origin.  Her voice is noted for its wide range and distinctive sound that transcends you to a time and place, leading you to a magical space with an innovative approach to Jazz. Yvette's vocal artistry has many influences and is as varied as the New Orleans culture that serves as her inspiration. Her dynamic octave range creates a musical palate that uniquely spans beyond category from an airy falsetto to an emotive contralto.
