About this Organization
The African Americans of Excellence (AAOE) in Frederick, MD, is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the rich contributions of African Americans through an annual multi-media exhibit featuring original works by local artists and students. By showcasing extraordinary talent and creativity, AAOE educates, inspires, and fosters a deeper appreciation for the cultural and historical impact of African Americans in Frederick County and beyond.
Each February, AAOE hosts its annual Legacy of Excellence Celebration at The Weinberg Center for the Arts, a prestigious event honoring seven outstanding individuals selected by the African American Resources and Cultural Heritage Society of Frederick County. Each honoree’s story is captured through professional videography, photography, and art, preserving their achievements through powerful visual and artistic storytelling.
