Using Film and the Performing and Literary Arts to Teach, Inspire, and Enhance Lives
About this Organization
Art for Growth (AFG), trade name for the 501 c 3 nonprofit corporation, Songs with Meaning, has used the performing, and literary arts to teach and enhance the lives of young people for over 22 years. For the past seven (7) years, AFG has turned its focus to filmmaking. It introduced youth, ages 5 - 12, throughout the state of Maryland, to the world of filmmaking via its community partnership with the after-school program, Stage Right. Now, ten short films later, AFG is finally in a position to use its accumulated experience along with seasoned experts, to teach teens how to enhance the lives of their peers, all over the world. In addition, AFG has acquired a new facility and is now in a position to help support other local multimedia artists and film industry affiliates. Art for Growth's new DMV Production Hub project offers affordable office space in support of small creative organizations and businesses throughout the DMV area. Selected artists, businesses, and organizations are those who are committed to supporting or using multimedia arts, including film and television, to educate, enlightened, and/or enhance humanity.
Both non-profit and for-profit businesses, under the project, are exposed to opportunities for funding from participation in various group projects.
However, the project can only accept a maximum of five businesses. Currently, there are only four spots left. Office rents range from $280 to $480 a month. Rents include utilities, wifi, conference room, presentation/training room, multi-purpose room, virtual receptionist service, and the opportunity to work under the same roof with other creatives striving to make a difference via the arts.
Note: DMV Production Hub offices are private, safe, and secure. THE OFFICES ARE NOT SHARED. Only communal spaces are shared, such as the conference room, presentation/training room, and the multi-purpose room.
There are no time restrictions on how long businesses can remain renters under the project. However, the opportunity will only last for as long as we have office space available.
The DMV Production Hub is located on Allentown Road, in Camp Springs, Maryland, across from Andrews Air Force base. It's positioned right off of the beltway; just 15 minutes away from the District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia.

AFG is currently developing and seeking support for a new youth program designed to give high school students with a love for screenwriting and filmmaking the opportunity to write and produce a series created by teens for teens. The program will consist of both online and local services. Our goal is to begin enrollment in January 2022.
