About this Organization
Camerata Baltimore was started on September 3rd, 2014 by the founder and artistic director, James Mayo III. Through the collaborative efforts of the founding members of the ensemble, their first performance was given at Catonsville Baptist Church in Catonsville, MD. The official debut of the ensemble was given on December 5th, 2014. This program included Part the First of Handel’s Messiah – along with other familiar favorites of Christmas. Now, this is an annual event. Camerata Baltimore has had five successful tours to the Northeast. We have sung at some of the nation’s most prestigious private schools. This includes Deerfield Academy, St. Paul’s School (NH), Northfield Mount Hermon, and Berwick Academy. We tour during the week of observance of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday. We collaborate with these schools to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by presenting workshops and concerts while we are on tour. The ensemble presents major choral works. In the last six years, our repertoire has included Händel’s Messiah, Saint-Saëns’s Oratorio de Noël and Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ.Services/Opportunities
