About this Organization

This Could Go Boom! is a nonprofit organization that supports gender diversity in music and strives for gender equity in the music industry through record label services, professional development, community outreach, education, and performance opportunities for musicians and music industry workers whose genders have long been underrepresented, marginalized and excluded. Founded by grassroots organizers who are musicians themselves, TCGB! launched in 2018 and has released two vinyl records, one digital album, and one EP on its record label track. The music that has been released has garnered praise from outlets such as: Alternative Press, Consequence, The Washington Post, Curve Magazine and American Songwriter. TCGB! has offered workshops and community events focusing on building safer scenes, DIY recording, improvisational music making. TCGB! has given a gallery talk on diversity in music at the Hirshhorn Gallery, partnered with DC Music Summit to present at The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and participated in the Smithsonian Folk Festival Record Label Fair. During the Covid shutdown, TCGB! developed and piloted a skills share and professional development program for artists releasing their own material. TCGB! partners with The New Deal Cafe to present monthly live music showcases and has curated and promoted more than 250 artists in paid performances. TCGB! is honored to have been a two time recipient of a Maryland Creativity Grant.  TCGB! can curate a produce live shows with diverse musicians as well as develop learning materials and create programs in the areas of making music, music business, audio recording, safer scenes, music history, and the importance of gender diversity in music for audiences and participants grade 3 through adult.  Follow TCGB! at www.thiscouldgoboom.com @thiscouldgoboom
