Encore Creativity Corporation

Encore's mission is to provide an excellent and accessible artistic environment for older adults, regardless of experience or ability, who seek arts education and performance opportunities under a professional artist.

About this Organization

Encore is the nation's largest choral organization for adults over the age of 55. Encore's mission is to provide an excellent and accessible artistic environment for older adults, regardless of experience or ability, who seek arts education and performance opportunities under a professional artist. Encore is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax exempt organization. The primary goal of Encore Creativity for Older Adults is to offer our choral program to adults over the age of 55, an underserved population in the arts, throughout the country. Accessibility has been the key to Encore's success: There are no auditions to become a member of an Encore program; anyone with a desire may join. Singers do not have to be experienced. The ability to read music is not necessary.  Singers are generally seated for their ninety-minute rehearsals and may also be seated during performances. Most importantly of all, Encore is fun! The benefits of choral singing are well documented. Encore singers love the music, love to sing, and thrive on the camaraderie that comes with the Encore experience. Encore continues to set priorities that provide singers with: artistic excellence, learning vocal and proper breathing techniques; mental, emotional and physical improvements; an ongoing positive social outlet and participation in a caring community of fellow singers. Encore strives to serve new and returning singers by setting goals for the future that include: expanding Encore programs into new locations; continuing to expand participation in existing Chorales through word-of-mouth and community-wide communication; continuing to expand our popular new Encore ROCKS program; expanding Encore's reach into the community by incorporating a diverse selection of guest artists as part of Encore's free community concerts; serving as the voice of the older adult chorus community with regional and national organizations; exploring new travel opportunities, both weekend and extended, for singers to supplement their choral rehearsals.
