About this Organization

Flying V is redefining theatre, with the intent to invigorate and inspire people to live life with a greater sense of appreciation and adventure, to combat the increasing epidemic of existential loneliness in our culture. A gateway drug to theatre that bridges the gap between pop culture and high culture, we are dedicated to the creation, development, and production of vibrant original work, offbeat contemporary plays, and theatrical performance art inspired by genre fiction and other modern mythologies. By creating work that reflects the intimate struggles of the human condition through vivid, high concept metaphors and artistic vigor, we hope to shine a light on the loneliness and isolation that so many feel and create a sense of connection and wonder. This past year, Flying V saw a massive internal staff restructuring as we broke away from a standard Artistic Director-led leadership model, and instead embraced a team of four Artistic Leads that are cooperatively stewarding Flying V's creation and voice into a new era across the multitude of mediums Flying V uses to make reach audiences and artists. This model has allowed Flying V to more readily adapt to new ideas, new struggles, and new inspirations as the company seek to serve not only the audiences who consume our work but the artists who create it - providing an environment that connects and creates wonder not only for those looking at our stages but also those upon them.  Flying V currently focuses on three particular mediums: Theatre, Fights (Stage Combat & Wrestling), Digital Media. Simply, we believe that modern mythologies are welcome in all different storytelling arenas.  Theatre: Visual and Verbal Storytelling - These works include our more traditional stage plays, devised works, and our development pieces with commissioned playwrights and performers.  Fights: Physical Storytelling - These works include our professional wrestling shows, and our stage combat-focused narratives - where we prove that choreography and physical storytelling apply too much more than just dance. Digital Media: Audio and Digital Storytelling - These works include our podcast series, our works written and performed for digital consumption, and  Despite these different "arenas" of work, our creation is far from siloed. Theatre is often enhanced by stage combat and creatively incorporated digital media. And Fights benefit from script and presentation support from the more traditionally theatre-minded creators. And etc. etc. We acknowledge our specializations but also look for all the ways they complement and augment the possibilities of creation using our entire toolbox.
