About this Organization
Fredericktowne Players (FTP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community theater organization. Originally founded in 1932 and is considered the oldest theater company in Frederick. Our mission is to provide opportunities for the residents of Frederick and surrounding areas to participate in and enjoy quality theatrical productions. FTP emphasizes the production of shows with a broad appeal to its audiences with goals to education, enlighten and entertain. FTP stages three shows a year and offers a wealth of opportunities for participants to showcase their talents on stage or behind the scenes. Our shows directions and producers are local residents and bring many years directorial and producing experience. We work to make our productions accessible and affordable to all residents of the community by reaching out to include special diverse audiences. FTP is sensitive to the Frederick community and works to integrate the theatrical arts into the life of the community. We do hold fundraisers such as evening performance raffles and cabaret nights where residents can display their singing talents. FTP provides free tickets to contributors and discount tickets to some shows for senior citizens and children. Although the Covid-19 epidemic has taken its toll on all interactive activities making it necessary to cancel two years worth of shows, fundraisers, etc., FTP has not sat idle. In July 2022 we put on our first show, "The Little Mermaid", to which our loyal theater goers attended. FTP is in the process of and very excited to plan its 2023 season.
