Services/Opportunities

Drum Circle is an engaging and interactive drumming session led by a Master drummer where participants experience African drumming and shared rhythms. Using a variety of drums and other percussion instruments, the circle encourages participants to co-create music in a fun and expressive way. The drum circle serves multiple purposes: recreational music-making, team building, social interaction, wellness, and personal growth. This activity is for all ages.

Logistics:

Fritete will provide the following:

(1) 20-25  African Djembe Drums and other percussion instruments, bells, and shakers.

(2) The Client organization or institution will provide: Chairs and a suitable space for dance & drumming

Duration: 45 to 60 minutes, with intermittent breaks as needed

Objectives:

  • Introduce participants to traditional West African drumming and dance skills.
  • Increase awareness of African drumming within a cultural context.
  • Provide insight into the historical backgrounds of selected West African drumming patterns.
  • Encourage enjoyment of drumming, integrating dance with drumming.
  • Allow participants to share acquired skills in a performance setting.

  1. Besa Dance Session – “Feel The Beat Move Your Feet.” This is a Dance workshop where participants are taught different African dance forms and techniques, primarily from West African countries like Guinea, Ghana, Gambia, and the Ivory Coast. Besa is an aerobic exercise for a great cardio workout for all ages! This program offers live drumming by the master drummer, and other program participants can drum as well after the master drummer teaches them the supporting drumming beat.
