About this Organization
Greater Annapolis Ballet, a 501(c)3 organization, was established in the Fall of 2019 for coaching, private lessons, and supplemental technique classes for homeschool and hybrid learning students. In the summer of 2020, GAB held its first Summer Intensive, and in the Fall of 2020, GAB became a full-time school and company, opening its doors to all students.
GAB provides classes for dancers 3 years of age to 19 years of age with levels ranging from Creative Movement through Ballet 7. Its classes include classical ballet technique, pre-pointe, pointe, variations, partnering, character, contemporary, stretch, and conditioning. GAB offers a Pre-Professional Division for dancers in levels Ballet 4 - Ballet 7, which is designed to prepare dancers for dance careers beyond high school. All of the school’s faculty have danced professionally and have their own unique style and training that they present to the dancers, which allows the dancers to thrive in multiple ballet and contemporary environments. GAB is dedicated to giving our dancers the best training possible but understands that the lessons they learn in the studio go way beyond our walls. We want our students to appreciate and respect all art forms and to understand the importance of art in their lives.
Within its first two seasons, GAB hosted and organized the HOPE Dance Concert to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, had virtual and live performances of both The Nutcracker Suite and their Spring Performance. The school’s students were awarded 1st and 3rd place, as well as top 12 at Youth America Grand Prix Semi-Finals in both Classical and Contemporary categories and were honored to be showcased at the YAGP 2021 Finals. GAB became a new company member with Regional Dance America in the winter of 2021 and is extremely excited to provide the RDA experience to its dancers.
