Porchfest is annual event open to the public, which features bands and musicians playing on the front porches of South Prospect Street in Hagerstown.
the event aims to marry music with the history of the street, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of several historic districts designated by the City of Hagerstown.
This past year’s event was to feature more than 50 musicians playing on front porches, a main stage and a beer garden. Unfortunately, tropical storm Ophelia moved up the East Coast dumping too much rain to safely hold the event.
the neighborhood group organizes the event, but this year was joined by Music Instrument Collection (MIC).
The MIC program is part of the Laird Bush Music Education Fund underthe auspices of the Community Foundation of Washington County
Planning has already started for next year.
