About this Organization
The Havre de Grace Arts Collective (Arts Collective) is a 501(c)(3) organization created to address the cultural and economic needs of Harford County, Havre de Grace and the surrounding region through programming of the Cultural Center at the Opera House (Cultural Center), Havre de Grace Arts and Entertainment (A&E) District, the Arts by the Bay Gallery, and the Havre de Grace Public Art Committee.
The Arts Collective brings local, regional and national high caliber performances to the 201-seat Cultural Center, capturing audiences from Harford County, surrounding counties, Baltimore/Washington area as well as out-of-state (including Philadelphia, Lancaster and Delaware). The venue attracts performers and audiences to the area by leveraging its proximity to I-95 and the New York and Washington areas.
The Arts Collective maintains the A&E District program of the State of Maryland offering tax incentives and credits to attract artists to work and live in Havre de Grace, thus stimulating economic growth in Havre de Grace and the surrounding area. The A&E Committee, consisting of HdG museums, the Collective and community leaders, formed in June 2019 to work on a number of projects, including expanding the City's tourism Arts calendar; a self-guided art tour; a quarterly Art Walk and an artists registry.
Additionally, the Arts Collective serves as the umbrella organization for the Arts by the Bay Gallery, a cooperative gallery representing a diverse variety of artists with an array of specialties. It is committed to cultural education through workshops, lectures, seminars and art demonstrations. As a cooperative gallery, each member shares responsibility in running the gallery and contributing to its success.
The goal of the HdG Public Art Committee is to develop and implement a comprehensive public art program rooted in the heritage, architectural and natural beauty of HdG.
