About this Organization
The mission of HER Cause, Inc. is to provide Black women, and other women of color increased access to mental health resources through arts and humanities, health, wellness, and advocacy. Our vision is to eradicate the stigma on mental health within Black women, and other women of color by promoting healthy living while making hope and healing connections. HER Cause works to share the experience of those struggling with mental health issues in creative ways via HER Cause, the Podcast and Diagnosed, the play - to name a few. In January 2023, our play Diagnosed made its world premiere. Diagnosed, the play addresses mental illness amongst women in the black community. DC Theater Arts says, "Playwright and Director Iyona Blake offers a vibrant, unvarnished view of the Black feminist experience with mental health." This play changes lives.
