OUR MISSION Iron Crow Theatre is an award-winning, professional, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and Baltimore’s queer theatre. Iron Crow Theatre produces queer theatre for a queer city, celebrating the renegade and unorthodox in all of us. OUR VISION Iron Crow Theatre strives to become Baltimore’s next professional Equity theatre, producing theatrical work of the highest artistic quality and offering artists and administrators alike with competitive pay, access to the Equity Membership Candidate program, and a creative environment founded on professionalism that is both safe and inclusive to all.
About this Organization
At Iron Crow Theatre we define queer broadly as the celebration of the renegade and the unorthodox in all of us. We don’t seek to define queer for others, but rather hold space for those artists, patrons, playwrights, and designers who identify themselves or their work as being queer or in support of the queer experience. For us, queer can manifest itself through aesthetic, thematic elements, gender identity, sexual orientation, and/or theatrical approach or convention. By developing and producing work that explores and celebrates that which is queer, we, in turn, begin to engage in a dialogue about what it means to be an American.Services/Opportunities

Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties
2019
Directed by Board Member and Resident Artist Dr. Natka Bianchini as part of the 20/21 Season of the Renegade and heralded by The New York Times as “a full-tilt lesbian/bi-curious/genderqueer/ Shakespearean comedy for everyone,” Collective Rage follows five different women named Betty as they collide at the intersection of anger, sex, and the “Thea- Tah.” Betty is rich; Betty is lonely; Betty’s busy working on her truck; Betty wants to talk about love, but Betty needs to hit something; and Betty keeps using a small hand mirror to stare into parts of herself she’s never examined. Award-winning playwright Jen Silverman’s absurdist dark comedy is simultaneously hilarious, inspired, and boldly unapologetic. Iron Crow Theatre was the first theater to debut the revised script and this production was nominated 9 times for the 2019 Broadway World Regional Awards.
BARE
2019
Directed and choreographed by Artistic Director Sean Elias, Bare, the worldwide coming-of-age pop-rock musical phenomenon and one the most significant pieces of contemporary queer musical theatre, follows a group of high school renegades at a Catholic co-ed boarding school as they wrestle with their sexuality, their religion, and ultimately their identity. With deep honesty, alarming cultural relevance, and a gritty, alt- rock-pop score reminiscent of RENT and Spring Awakening, Bare delivers one of the most powerful and gripping theatrical experiences of this generation — an introspective into the fragility of our “bare” humanity. This production was named MD Theatre Guide’s Number 1 Show of the Week in the state of Maryland and became one of the theatre’s best-selling musicals.
The Rocky Horror Show: Valentine's Day Edition
2020
Directed and choreographed by Resident Artist Quae Simpson, Baltimore’s award-winning and favorite tradition The Rocky Horror Show returned with an all-new Valentine’s Day spin like you’ve never seen before! A quintessential queer theatrical experience presented live on stage — complete with call-outs, cascading toilet paper, and an array of other audience participation props. In this live stage musical best known for the 1975 cult film, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, seek shelter at a mysterious old castle on a dark and stormy night where they encounter transvestite scientist Dr. Frank ’N’ Furter. A deliberately kitschy rock ‘n’ roll sci-fi gothic thriller, more daring and outrageous than ever! This production raised over $2,500 for local charity Moveable Feast in an homage to the company’s founding and continues to be one of the theatre’s best-selling and most-anticipated productions of the season.
