Mighty Minds Foundation - Foreman Arts School

The mission of the Foreman Arts School (FAS) is to enrich the arts by providing professional arts training and mentorship to underserved communities. FAS aims to ensure that black and brown artists are highly represented in film, TV, movies, and theaters worldwide, regardless of their racial or economic status. In the past 2 years, FAS has given over 40 scholarships to fund dance classes, dance attire, and costumes for children in need.

About this Organization

The Mighty Minds Foundation (MMF) is the nonprofit branch of the Mighty Minds Enrichment Center (MMC) and The Foreman Arts School (FAS). It is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit founded in 2022. The goal of MMF is to provide educational opportunities to our community youth through creative programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM). The mission of MMF is to empower underserved youth to live fulfilling lives and help them develop their growth mindset to thrive.

Services/Opportunities

The variety of services includes:  

TAP/BALLET/ACRO COMBO CLASS (3-5 YRS)

An introduction to the fundamentals of Ballet, Tap, and Acrobatics techniques. In one hour, your dancer will receive 20 minutes of Ballet, 20 minutes of Tap, and 20 minutes of Acrobatics. Each class includes a full warm-up, across-the-floor technique, choreography, and fun dance games.

TAP/BALLET/JAZZ/ACRO COMBO CLASS (6-8 YRS)

An extended introduction to the fundamentals of Ballet, Tap, and Acrobatics techniques. In this 1 ½  class, your dancer will receive 30 minutes of Ballet, 30 minutes of Tap, and 30 minutes of Jazz/Acrobatics. Each class includes a full warm-up, across-the-floor technique, choreography, and fun dance games.

TAP

Become a musician and dancer at the same time by making music with your feet. Tap is a style of dance characterized by the sound of a metal tap striking the floor.  Tap utilizes rhythm, syncopation, and sound in addition to movement. An emphasis is placed on musicality, expression, and improvisation.

JAZZ

Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet, modern dance, and hip-hop.

Classes emphasize musicality and body alignment, conditioning, stretching and strengthening, rhythm and stylization, and fun, innovative choreography.

BALLET

Ballet is the foundation for all dance training. It focuses on developing solid dance techniques, emphasizing correct body placement, proper turnout, upper-body coordination, and arm use. Dancers who want to progress in level for various styles will want to make sure to take 2 or more ballet classes each week. You will notice a difference over time in your dancer’s abilities and focus.

HIP-HOP

Hip hop encompasses a wide range of street styles, including breaking, locking, and popping. This class focuses on developing rhythm, isolation, and coordination, all while encouraging individual style.

ACROBATICS

Where dance and gymnastics collide! This style incorporates gymnastic-like tumbling and flexibility skills with the beauty of dance. Unlike gymnastics, where beams and barres are used, Dancers will use mats and their own bodies to perform tricks such as cartwheels, walkovers, back bends, handsprings, etc.
