Mikela Thrasher

My name is Mikela Thrasher, and I’m the founder of Sunshine Kids Entertainment, a community-rooted business that provides creative, joyful, and inclusive arts programming for children and families across Baltimore City and the greater Washington, DC area. As an educator, arts facilitator, and small business owner, I created Sunshine Kids to fill a growing need—families seeking engaging, meaningful, and affordable creative outlets for their children that foster imagination, emotional wellness, and connection. Our mission is to use the power of the visual arts to build community, promote healing, and provide equitable access to creativity for all children, regardless of background. We currently offer services like face painting, arts and crafts, pop-up workshops, and event entertainment—bringing joy and hands-on experiences to schools, festivals, and family gatherings.

Services/Opportunities

In this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of neurographic art in order to develop skills in art making and mindfulness.

Drawing neurographic lines bridges the connection between the conscious and subconscious mind. Just as we use other creative processes to access “flow states,” neurographic art enables our access to enhanced states of consciousness.

We draw the initial line by letting the hand flow freely without any pre-existing shape or object in mind. While we draw, we are prompted to consider a mantra, or an aspect of our lives we wish to improve. Today’s meditation prompted us to consider our true soul’s desire.

We capture feelings and emotions on paper and create new neural connections, allowing you to see reality differently, impacting future thoughts and everyday decisions. One of the most fascinating aspects of this art process is that the drawings created through the neurographic art method resemble neurons and neural connections, the same connections that are positively affected while engaging in the art form itself.

Participants will receive custom face painting designs suitable for children and adults with the ability to serve up to 12-15 faces per hour.
