Shore Shakespeare Company

About this Organization

The mission of Shore Shakespeare Company is to present the works of William Shakespeare in unique, modern, and exciting ways, outdoors and free to the general public.  In addition, we hope to educate and expose younger generations to the humor, poignancy, and experience of human behavior integral to the Bard's works. Shore Shakespeare Company was created by two local actors, Christian Rogers and Avra Sullivan.  With a shared passion for Shakespeare and a desire to see more of his works done on the Eastern Shore, they decided to start their own company. Audiences brought chairs, blankets, and picnic dinners to enjoy Shakespeare at sunset and under the stars.  This same tradition continues today.  Each summer, the company tours multiple public venues across Maryland's Mid-shore, including Chestertown, Cambridge, Oxford, Centreville, Easton, and Ridgely. The troupe also offers educational programing and workshops to local schools from Pre-K through Adult Education in an effort to help students of all ages see the beauty and relevance of William Shakespeare's timeless works.
