About this Organization
The most prolific multidisciplinary arts presenter in the state of Maryland, Strathmore Hall Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit arts organization in Montgomery County that presents and produces music performances, art exhibitions, and education programs on our campus, in the community, and online. Strathmore was founded in 1981 to provide arts opportunities for the people of Montgomery County and to maintain the then newly-acquired property in North Bethesda on behalf of the County as a home for the arts. Having begun with visual art exhibitions and chamber concerts in the historic Mansion, as well as free outdoor concerts on the lawn, Strathmore opened the Music Center in 2005, which houses the state-of-the-art Concert Hall, offices for administration and partners, and expansive education spaces. In 2015, Strathmore opened AMP, a 230-seat cabaret-style club located two miles north of Strathmore’s main campus at the Pike and Rose development. Today Strathmore represents a public-private partnership that provides affordable, accessible, multi-disciplinary arts programming to more than 150,000 people annually through over 200 live performances and an additional 200 arts programs, classes, and experiences. In recent years, we have expanded our Bloom programs, through which we help expand access to the arts in our community by providing free and low-cost opportunities, extending our resources throughout the County, and collaborating with partners who make a positive impact.Featured Work

Monuments: Creative Forces
Monuments: Creative Forces, a campus-wide outdoor art installation at Strathmore by Australian artist Craig Walsh, October 2020.
The exhibition featured moving, dimensional video portraits of artists whose work and artistic endeavors are changing the shape of our community in profound ways. Expansive video portraits of these creative heroes, chosen by a diverse panel of community and arts leaders, were projected on to towering trees, transforming them into animated sculptural monuments.
