About this Organization
For more than 35 years, The Talent Machine Company (TMC) has been a cornerstone of children’s musical theater in Anne Arundel County and beyond. Founded by director and choreographer Bobbi Smith, TMC has provided thousands of young people with more than just a stage—it has given them a place to grow, connect and shine.Generations of families have attended and performed in our productions, making TMC a cultural touchstone in our community.
Today, Bobbi’s legacy lives on through her daughter, Lea Capps, and the hundreds of alumni, families, and supporters who carry forward her dream: to empower children through the magic of musical theater. We offer kids and teens invaluable performance skills while also helping them learn the value of teamwork and excellence. At a time when youth face many challenges, including the isolation created by our digital world and concerns about mental health and stress, our Company offers a safe, inclusive space to make connections, become more resilient and gain confidence.
We produce four shows each year -- two summer productions, our holiday spectacular and a spring show in partnership with The Penguin Project, a nationally recognized organization that gives young people with disabilities the opportunity to perform on stage supported by peer mentors.
Our hallmark: professional-quality productions performed entirely by youth, infused with energy, creativity and heart.
