Brittney McGowan

Brittney McGowan’s background is in the visual and public arts, teaching, education administration, and project management. She currently serves as a Public Art Specialist for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, Arts and Cultural Heritage Division (ACHD). For ACHD, Brittney is responsible for the initiation, implementation, and expansion of public art projects countywide. 

Prior to joining as the Public Art Specialist, Brittney was the Assistant Director at Brentwood Arts Exchange, within ACHD. At Brentwood Arts Exchange, she managed the marketing and programming of a robust and multifaceted contemporary art center. 

Previously, Brittney managed the undergraduate Visual Arts Department at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) as the Program Coordinator for over four years. 

Brittney received her B.A. in the Practice of Fine Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, and a M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration and Policy, from the University of California, Riverside. Brittney also holds a graduate certificate in Learning and Performance Technology from UMBC.

Originally from Southern California, Brittney has called the DMV home for over ten years and Prince George’s County home for the past seven. She is a creative who focuses on painting and portraiture as her mode of expression.
