Chad is the Senior Program Director at MSAC, where he participates in the planning and execution of projects intended to improve the arts council’s service to constituents. These efforts include: developing relationships with artists and cultural workers across the state in an effort to learn how best to support their activities; overseeing procedure and policy improvements geared toward heightening artistic and economic opportunities; and creating and maintaining networks of artists and arts organizations with the goal of fostering a thriving, interconnected arts landscape in the state. Chad also provides oversight for the Maryland Traditions program and direct administration of the Folklife Network, which supports eight regional folklife centers through an annual grant. His objective in this work is to maintain a stable, transparent arts infrastructure that serves all people in Maryland through funding, technical assistance, and clear, open channels of communication. He has a PhD in folklore studies from Indiana University.
