Uasuf Gueye - Lecture Demonstration
Uasuf Gueye, of Washington, DC, is a nationally acclaimed musician and artist. He belongs to a family of Nguewel/Diali, or oral historians and musicians. He began his study and performance of Manding and Wolof music at a very young age.
Uasuf is a dynamic djembe and dundun drummer as well as a skilled instrument craftsman. He also plays the 21-key Bala, which he learned from master artists of the Manding tradition of West Africa.

Dr. Ramilya Saubanova a Baltimore–based pianist from the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, brings over 22 years of experience to the world of music. She has won numerous awards, including the Grand–Prix at the World Vision Music International Competition and Music without Limits International Competition. Her talent has also been recognized with prestigious scholarships, including the Presidential Scholarship of Tatarstan.

In the early 80’s he grew up in a family of hip hop and a culture immersed with musicians/dancers. In 2008 he was invited to make his first club appearance when a studio engineer asked him if he wanted to do a showcase at one of Baltimore’s most respected venues at the time, Sonar.
Real life rap and early 90’s raw real music. Ever since he was younger he wanted to express himself as a solo artist and creator of his own brand.
