Life is art, and art is my lifeline. Growing up in South Carolina, where my great aunt and uncle raised me due to my father’s imprisonment and my mother’s mental illness, was challenging and formative. As a 26-year-old black queer woman engaged to another black queer woman, I navigated my sexuality in a climate of isolation and stigma. Art became my sanctuary, allowing me to process my emotions and dreams through mixed media, including painting, clay, beads, and digital design.
Mixed media art via lost and found things. Focusing on recycling, and reusing old materials to make new fine art with traditional techniques. Highlighting natural forms, urban landscapes, and meditative processes. Currently working, living, and teaching on the Eastern Shore.
