Brit Scott
With vibrancy in color, a mixture of acrylics and mix media, self-taught graffiti folk artist Britnee Scotts paintings capture a spunky contemporary culture.  Presenting subjects that reflects on race, politics, and urban culture her works share a multitude of narratives. Her bold lines, and color has shaped a unique style in today’s art culture. Paying homage to Elizabeth Catlett, Aminah Robinson, Robert Colescott, and a connection of the Harlem Renaissance greats Faith Ringgold, Lois Mailou Jones, Brit bring those historical movements to fruition.

I am primarily a visual artist based in Seattle, WA. with more than 23 years in the craft of sign writing and graphics, as well as murals, pinstriping and other avenues of adornment. I additionally have a personal practice in exploratory painting sometimes mixed with an old habit of word play and poetry. I like the avenue of sculpture but haven't delved far into that realm just yet

Hello! Peace and Blessings- "I don’t consider myself an artist. There’s no formula behind what I create—no grand concept or polished technique. I make because I can, and because I love it. Every piece I’ve ever made is uniquely mine: imperfect, spontaneous, and unapologetically real." "Where others see flaws, I see fingerprints. Where some seek symmetry, I embrace the unexpected. My work isn’t flawless—and that’s exactly the point. It’s not about perfection. It’s about presence."

I’ve been painting and drawing all of my life and am currently showing in galleries in Annapolis and Washington DC. My work has taken 2 tracks of late. The first is based on my passion for photography and collage and 2nd focuses on large scale drawings and paintings that are high contrast and semi- abstract. There is a relationship between both tracks in the patterns of contrasting dark and light and juxtaposition of unlikely images and objects. I am interested in exploring, semi abstract, but figurative depiction of emotions, life’s dilemmas, and states of being.
