Artist and musician Shawn Siochain from Maryland makes paintings, digital art, kinetic sculptures, and other creations from the studio and at mural sites and festival locations. His handmade acrylic shadowboxes are 3D canvases that incorporate multiple layers and LED lights. His large scale kinetic interactive sculptures have captivated people at dozens of festivals and at Burning Man. As a former humanitarian worker with USAID, his work incorporates themes of empathy, compassion, and global connectedness.
GRATEFUL: A CHAT WITH MARGIE B 11 2 23
The following video documents the online interview and debut of digital artwork done by Marjorie Billingsley entitled, "Only GOD: A Chat With Margie B". This special event was held on November 2, 2023 as a joint effort sponsored by two monthly groups that gather folks from around the world:
*A DEEPER STUDY OF THE SACRED: Creatives Study Creativity (1st Thursdays every month)
*THE DRAWING CLINIC (3rd Thursdays every month)
Margie’s extraordinary use of color and explanations of her work is an inspiration for all generations, and for all who desire to overcome any challenges. In spite of her limitations due to Multiple Sclerosis (MS), she has taken her limitations onto another level of Perseverance, Practice, and shows a willingness to learn beyond any physical obstacles. With the use of one finger, she has created over 100 works of digital art since May 2023 that are worthy of all sorts of future acclaims and possibilities. She says, “And, I am just beginning!”
What started out as a casual conversation between two friends, Margie and and Sharon Lee Minor (aka Auntie Afrika), became a mutually-creative challenge, and a series of instructional online classes in the DRAWING CLINIC and private sessions. Margie’s descriptions of her creative process within the documentary also reveal the deep respect and mutual admiration between these two who have known each other since childhood.
The video also provides a glimpse into what has made Margie so tenacious. Growing up in Eastland Gardens, a stable African American community in Washington, D.C. was also a blessing. She, along with others including Sharon, grew up knowing their worth as global citizens, to be competent and confident, and to set examples of accomplishment and excellence wherever they went. Their community would not tolerate anything less!
This video will inspire all generations wherever they may be around the world. Margie’s strong faith, beliefs, and submission to something beyond herself will cause anyone with a heart to consider how the Arts can restore physical, mental, and spiritual well-being for the ones who create, as well as for those who are willing to support…and even try their own hand at making something CREATIVE!

My name is Kimberly. I am originally from Puerto Rico. I’m a painter and language teacher. My preferred subjects to paint are endangered species. I also paint people, pets, interiors, still life, etc. I mostly paint in oil, but I also enjoy soft and oil pastels, charcoal and color pencils.
