My Biography (Created for me by T2PTV: Ashley Love and Bruce Nairn)

Elaine Weiner-Reed’s expressionist work tells stories that engage the imagination and evoke a mood or memory. An ongoing excavation into the psychology of relationships from the inside, out, her art explores life and identity in all its facets, phases, trials, and tribulations – from the gritty to the glorious. With intuition and passion, she seeks to decode the energy, motivations, chemistry, and undercurrents between individuals to resurrect feelings of transcendence, mystery, and hope. Her work honors the human spirit in all its resiliency and color. To Elaine, “Life is messy, unfinished, and beautiful.”

Weiner-Reed’s life revolves around communication. Her three languages, English, French, and Art help her connect to people on a global scale. Art builds bridges. Through overseas travel, she realized that Art is her truest voice, and unlike her other languages, Art communicates across all cultures and borders.

And in the Artist's own words:

"Art is my Voice.
Sculpture amplifies my Voice, bringing it into the third dimension.
A voice in the physical world is much harder to ignore.

Born a twin, identity matters to me. In relationships, identities collide or connect, enmeshed in a temporal dance of their own design. In my work, I zoom in on an individual, defining some facets or features, and masking others. Depending on the story, I depict some as silhouettes, others as after-thoughts. Each painting or sculpture is rooted in personal experience, influenced by dreams, and infused with emotion. Each tells its own unique story and is part of an evolving series. I believe that we are all products of our personal histories. As a result, my sculptures and paintings probe the roots and evolution of identity, individuality, and relationships from the inside, out – zooming in on the individual within or outside of a group dynamic. Built of layers and hidden masks, my paintings and sculptures intrigue the viewer, pulling them in to explore and unravel mysteries on or beneath the surface."
