Born in Washington D.C. in 1954, the year Elvis Presley recorded his first record, I am a child of rock and roll. Being part of the original baby boomers, I enjoyed my formative years watching the transformation of this country through the sixties. My immediate peers were heavily involved in music which included being in bands, touring and producing on various levels.

Claudia Vess 's work reflects the contemporary urban quotidian landscape. She works in multiple media: relief sculpture, printmaking, painting, and installation works. She often uses contemporary objects either as part of the print matrix, as iconic subjects in paintings, and as connectors from 3-D existence to 2-D mind's eye pictography.
She is after "a conversational spark between the viewer and the work." This interactive concept of art may have been influences by her work with Byzantine Art.
Vess exhibits locally and internationally, recently in DC, Berlin, Venice and Rome.
