Georgia O’Keeffe once said "I decided that the only thing I could do that was nobody else's business was to paint. I could do as I chose because no one would care." I believe that the ability to feel is innate in us all, but the ability to express is often learned. Judgment from the outside world often limits our expression and the freedom to be one's self, but I have learned through my paintings to define my own personal freedom. Painting is my rally against the heaviness of the world; it is my fight for self -- a place where I may do as I choose because no one care

About the Artist

I am a Baltimorian with mid-western roots. Brought up by a social worker and landscape photographer moonlighting as a trucker driver. I was raised in a house with art, deep thinking, community, strong work ethic, thoughtful inclusivity, and a WHOLE lot of neurodivergent folks.  I am somewhat self-taught and started collaging 16 or so years ago as a therapeutic outlet for anxiety. Nothing like cuttin' and gluin' to help fend off the worry! Creative writing has always been my jam and is woven throughout my visual art. I grew up with a darkroom in my basement and a father constantly with a camera in hand, which helped me appreciate a photograph's importance in documenting people's lived experiences.  I approach my art in a relationship-oriented manner as a neurodivergent, highly sensitive person. My artwork is primarily focused on women and often the relationships that develop. I believe that the relationship between my art,  my physical presentation, and my actual life experience provokes deep cultural questions. These questions then become larger discussions about race, identity, humanity, and what makes someone who they are. They provoke discussions that in some respect become their own art - exploring what it means to truly see the layers of someone we love.  I certainly cannot sum up my "bio" here and likely haven't done a great job of explaining myself. The knowing is in the interacting, right? lol  Mostly, I am concerned with learning about the experiences of others and using my privilege to be a better global citizen. Reach out to chat!
