I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD and I graduated from The Ohio State University with a BFA in Glass in 2004. I have been a vessel-maker for 20 years but I switched gears during the pandemic, and I am currently creating a new body of sculptural work featuring glass fish, which will be shown during a solo exhibition in Fall of 2023. I hope to explore the potential social impact that my work might be able to achieve if I can highlight different native fish species and their importance to the regional ecosystems and habitats.
About the Artist
Joshua Tracy Glass has been creating handcrafted glass art in the Baltimore area for nearly 20 years. He uses traditional and modern Venetian and American glassblowing techniques to create hand-blown ornaments, pumpkins, paperweights, flowers, vases, bowls, lighting fixtures and custom commissions. Tracy's latest body of work consists of lifelike blown and hand sculpted glass fish. His inspiration comes from a connection to nature and the marine environments where he spends time fishing for various species of fresh and saltwater fish.Featured Work

Abaco Sensoriale
Glass, Metal
2023
Blown glass orbs strung on tensioned airline cables, supported by a welded steel frame. This piece was designed for a sensory garden at a park designed specifically for children with disabilities or on the spectrum of autism. Each orb spins and slides on the wire, and there are rubber bumpers that keep the glass from knocking into one another. The piece was designed to be an interactive experience for the children and is inspired by the abacus form and the function of Tibetan prayer wheels.
