Lucas Novaes Art

Multidisciplinary, Multidisciplinary Art, Painting, Visual / Media

After the uprisings in April 2015, my body of work came to shine a light on how art should truly operate in our society – in order to tap directly into the veins of social issues, politics, community development and sustainability. As an international artist I have been extremely influenced by politics and the power dynamics within the social relations occurring in the United States. Community engaged art and social practices have  led me to discover not only my place within society as an artist, but to unfold my outer cast in relation to art as a mechanism of hope, peace and social justice.

About the Artist

Born in 1994 in Sao Paulo city Brazil, Lucas grew up in a family of artists, craftsmen and musicians.  As a first generation immigrant to the USA, his works of art focus on the forms & ideas of freedom, family, community & the hope for a better future for Latin American immigrants. The city of Baltimore has been the center space to his creations as well as the concept of many of his artistic practice. The outcome of Luca/s artwork has become a system of natural public reflections, painting & music performances and that incite and perform societal reflection–  Sincerely,   Lucas Novaes
