About this Organization
B Free Dance Cheer Academy LLC is a Baltimore-based performing arts program rooted in liberation, expression, and excellence. As a Black woman-led organization, it centers the voices, stories, and brilliance of youth—especially those from historically marginalized communities—through the art of dance, cheerleading, and gymnastics.
Founded by Brittany Brown, a lifelong dancer who didn’t receive formal training until high school, the academy was created to fill the gap for children with passion but limited access. Brittany knows what it means to carry raw talent without opportunity, and she built B Free to ensure no child with a gift for movement is overlooked.
The academy offers structured and joyful training in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, African, Modern, Cheerleading, and Gymnastics for children ages 3–16. B Free blends technical skill-building with cultural pride, emotional healing, and positive identity development. Every class is rooted in love, structure, and the belief that the arts can be a powerful force for transformation.
But B Free’s reach goes beyond children. There is no age limit to the joy and healing dance can bring. The academy proudly offers programs for senior communities, adults with disabilities in group homes, and adults of all backgrounds through fun, affirming movement classes. Whether it’s a seated dance class in a senior center or an energetic adult Hip Hop class, every participant is welcomed with care, joy, and encouragement.
Brittany’s vision extends even further. B Free Dance Cheer Academy LLC is actively developing partnerships with local Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to create opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and cultural exchange. These partnerships are part of a larger mission to help participants build healthy self-identities while expanding their horizons academically and artistically.
Through original community-centered performances like the Nutcracker Remix and Aladdin Dance Series, students and participants of all ages are celebrated for their talent and growth. Beyond the stage, the academy integrates social-emotional learning, helping everyone from toddlers to seniors express themselves, build confidence, and find joy in movement.
