Bach en Bandoneon

Originally conceived in 2020, Bach en Bandoneon, is a collaboration between bandoneonist Rodrigo Avalos and Heyni Solera.
The idea first began when Rodrigo and Heyni virtually recorded Bach’s Fugue No.16 from the 2nd book of the Well-Tempered Clavier for Heyni’s mini-series, "Today’s Tango with Heyni". The duo discovered that they enjoyed working together, and throughout 2020 they both arranged four of Bach’s preludes and fugues from the WTC. They also decided to each compose a Prelude and Fugue in homage to Bach. Once Argentina opened its borders to foreigners, Heyni was able to fly to Buenos Aires in late November of 2021. That month they spent together consisted of marathon rehearsals, composition, and adjusting to their arrangements. Those weeks of intense preparation culminated in two days of recording in the church, Iglesia de la Congregación Evangélica Alemana de Buenos Aires, which created a beautiful resonance that can be heard in the album. The Avalos-Solera duo successfully completed a tour in the United States in 2022, and a tour in Buenos Aires in March of 2023.

You have enraptured my heart, my sister, my bride
With one glance of your eyes, with one link of your necklace.
How fair is your love, my sister, my bride! Better than wine.
The aroma of your ointments is better than all spices.
Your lips, my bride, taste of honey and milk.
Your raiments waft the scent of Lebanon.

Yo la keria -Sarajevo

This is a true romantic tearjerker, full of passion, loss, love and tears. Yo la queria is the cry of a desolate young man whose beloved died in his arms. Heart-broken, he travels the world with the constant question “Onde estas corasón? No te siento palpitar” Where are you my heart, I don’t hear your heartbeat.

Yo la queria, mas que mi vida I loved her more than I love my own life
Mas que mi madre l’amava yo I loved her more than I loved my mother
Por el destino cruel, sangriente but destiny, cruel, bloody,
Duvo desharme sin su querer left me without her love.

Una manyana de frio d’invierno One morning in the cold of winter,
Entre mis braços me se murió In my arms she passed away
Desde entonces vo por el mundo And since then I pass through the world
con el recuerdo d’aquel amor. With the memory of that cherished love.

¿Onde estas corazón? Where are you, my heart?
No te siento palpitar I don’t feel your pounding.
Qu’es tan grande el dolor, the pain is so deep,
que no puedo llorar, I cannot even cry.
Yo queria llorar I wanted to weep
Ma no tengo mas llanto but tears, I have no more
La queria tanto i se fue I loved her so much and she is gone
Para nunca mas turnar. Never to return again
