Born in Washington, D.C. watching the city transition I had to find options to stay out of trouble. I always expressed an interest in art and sports. I couldn't draw at all I only was drawing stick figures and one day at the library I found a book on how to draw cartoons. I learned and developed my own vision of cartoons on paper then clothing. Wanting to improve on this blessing. I began to work with different medians such as sand, glass, beads, acrylics, foam to create puppets, beautiful fun canvas art.
Through themes that evoke discomfort, Maggie Letvin imposes an intense experience on the viewer. This type of direct approach creates an immediate impact and responses. Continuously exploring media and materials to create a type of multisensory approach in which print and performance play a leading role; they confront the viewer in an unavoidable way.

I am a self-taught visionary artist. Art has allowed me to look beyond an event and experience it from different perspectives while attempting to make sense of them. My work has given me full expression to explore the shadow parts of my personality and trauma while also embracing the gifts that lie beyond “normal” consciousness.
