MusiKinesis® integrates modern music and dance. Rooted in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, its work includes classes and workshops for dancers and musicians, a summer teacher-training institute, publications of teaching materials, dance choreography and music composition and performance, and research in the history of 20th-century modern music-dance integration.
We welcome students and colleagues who sense music in movement, and/or movement in music, to make contact!
The Four Hour Day is an intimate performance space, lessons studio & instrument workshop in NE Baltimore. Founded in 2015, we've hosted national and international artists in concert, sold & donated hundreds of handmade musical instruments and provided music lessons to people of all ages and experience levels.
Since 1971, Maryland Youth Ballet has been successfully preparing young dancers for a career in the performing arts as well as providing classes to dancers of all ages and levels, and by presenting professional quality, yet accessible, award winning ballet performances for the entire region.
Cultura Plenera is a non-profit organization dedicated to community building in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia areas through the traditional Puerto Rican musical styles of Bomba and Plena. Bomba is a Puerto Rican musical genre that dates back more than 300 years, has heavy African influences, and expresses the sentiments of Puerto Ricans and their culture through barrel drums, maraca, cúa, singer, and dancers. Plena is another Puerto Rican musical genre, which dates back more than 100 years, and also narrates stories of the Puerto Rican experience through hand drums, güiro, and singer
Maryland Art Place's primary focus is supporting artists from the State of Maryland. We believe Black Lives Matter and we recognize that there is much more to be done in supporting and elevating the voices of Black artists across the state and we are committed to doing this work. Despite - or perhaps because of - the current climate, we continue to believe that the arts are essential to our health and well-being, and are dedicated to finding new ways to bring our services to the public that are representative to the artistic community as a whole.
ArtStream is an inclusive theatre organization. ArtStream’s classes, workshops, and performing companies fuel each student’s imagination, creativity, and focus. And that’s not all. Students improve communication and social skills and develop friendships. Newly discovered talents and capabilities improve self-esteem, poise, and confidence that extend into their daily lives. All students are valued for their creative contributions. ArtStream’s demanding and very entertaining process encourages students to find their voices, discover their creativity and strengths, and perform with confidence!
The newly built home of the non-profit Art League of Ocean City facility features a spacious two-story gallery, a pottery studio, classrooms, art library, and five working artist studios. The galleries display new exhibits of regional and local artists monthly, some of whom are Art League of Ocean City members.
Involvement Theater programs have been used with Maryland County Office of Aging sites, preK-12 public & private schools, College & University Student Activities, after school and No Child Left Behind programs. The programs are adapted to the participating age level including special needs and at-risk populations. Residencies, teacher in-service, family/parenting programs, music song writing and creative drama workshops are also available. Please call for funding options.
An initiative under the Southwest Partnership to establish a community arts center, anchored by a dance operator, with youth and community programming and education provided by artist studio residents.
