I grew up in Essex, MD. I was taught to draw from my father. I studied Advertising, Fine Arts, and Photography in Ohio at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Leaving school just shy of graduating, I toured the United States, and ended up in Olympia, Wa. for six years. There I lived as a full time artists. I have had shows from Washington State and Maryland over the years.
We are based in Cambridge, Maryland and facilitate artistic and cultural projects in Dorchester and Talbot Counties. Our main focus is offering grants to help arts and culture projects come to fruition and to support local artists and musicians.
We also offer training in grant writing and serve as facilitators, connecting those with project ideas to those who can help bring the ideas to life.
LaSara Kinser is an Eastern-Shore-based visual artist and educator.
My painting experience was guided by my middle school art teacher Shirley Brannock. Mrs. Brannock helped me get involved with the Dorchester Center for the Arts when it first opened. I was one of the youngest oil painters who learned to love the magic of a paint brush. Thanks to her, I received a high school scholarship and met other artists, their mediums and it allowed me to expand my horizons. Sculpture, carving, silversmithing, and glass work. I have recently taken up watercolors and enjoy the challenge of painting with less paint and the movement of the water.
I serve as a church musician (pianist, drums) for over 40 years, with a playing style mix of traditional gospel/smooth jazz.
As a DJ, my music of choice is Smooth Jazz and Black (traditional and contemporary). I love DJing for professional office/organizational events, providing sound and mics with a little smooth jazz in the background and between talking sessions/presentations.
Capturing Moments as they happen. My love for photography started with my children and grows deeper after every session. I am versed in multiple genres and both Natural light and studio lighting. My images have been highlighted on the Cover of Shore Magazine and the Chesapeake Bay Wedding as well as other local publications for Dorchester County Tourism and Economic Development.
