illegible ink
The name behind my work (illegible ink) emerged from a fourth grade experience. When learning cursive, my teacher gave me a C+ on my report card, noting that I was “taking liberties with her cursive, making it too creative and therefore, illegible.” Years later that creativity remains thankfully intact and proves that one teacher’s “illegible” liberty-taking is very much a creative gain!
Sharon L. Elsey
I’ve been a self-taught artist since 2006, creating acrylic paintings of sceneries, especially in the local area; flow art with design in mind; and some pet, adventure sports, and portraits. Noted for water and snow paintings, My work has been displayed in several areas locally.  I’ve taught classes at Garrett College and through paint parties.

Garrett Lakes Arts Festival

GARRETT LAKES ARTS FESTIVAL BEGAN WITH A VISION OF A MUSIC FESTIVAL IN GARRETT COUNTY. In December 1986, a group of Garrett County residents gathered to explore that vision and a related proposal from local resident Kathryn Sincell and violinist Erick Friedman. The joint desire was to promote cultural and artistic activities in the county and to rekindle the Mountain Chautauqua spirit, once a hallmark of Garrett County life. A core of 22 citizens evolved from the originators, many of whom remained in leadership roles, serving with dedication and distinction in the ensuing years.

Jess McClurg
I create artwork that is inspired by often overlooked, beautiful treasures found in nature. I invite the viewer to consider, for a moment, just how precious life is. I hope to inspire you to take more time to appreciate the common flora and fauna, landscapes, life cycles, and natural occurrences that come with living on Planet Earth. Having grown up in Garrett County, MD, I was consistently exposed to and surrounded by, the meticulous, astounding products of nature.
