From the artist:
Tonya Blue Shelby also known as Shelby Blue began creating mixed media collage art in 2017 after experiencing physical burnout and systematic bullying from the school system she worked for. Collage art became her space of refuge and peace at the end of the middle school workday. Her collage portraits tell the narrative of the societal and emotional ills women face in the workplace while triggering the choice of change and healing. Tonya has exhibited work in three solo art shows in Baltimore, and two virtual art exhibitions during the pandemic.
I'm an artist in Harford County. I have a wide range of artist skills including work in watercolor, fine art acrylic painting, ink illustration, digital artwork, and mural work. These diverse skill sets allow me to sketch ideas, create a digital composition, and implement the final design on either media or wall surfaces seamlessly. I'm open to new projects and would love to get involved in public installations in my community.

The Artists’ Emporium was designed to accommodate a bevy of backgrounds and tastes. With such a vast collection of pieces, there are multiple works of art to pique anyone’s interest. For the woman who adores watercolor, she can find prints and originals of paintings composed by some of the gallery’s artists. For the man intrigued by sculpture, he will find pieces of varying materials, synthesized into a new entity.

It’s taken me a long time to realize what type of artist I am and that is a creative “maker” who uses items discarded, thrift shop bought, or given to me to create whatever flows through me. The items you see in the photos are but a small collection of what I have been waiting to share.
