My work focuses on age and aging in a variety of subjects. I paint to express the emotional response within me, what I see and feel, not just the physical aspect of aging, but what I find to be beauty at every stage of life in defiance of the aging process itself. Exploring the theme of entropy in today’s world, I want to paint scenes that represent to me a second chance at beauty. As I see it these moments play an important part in what draws me to paint.

Born and adopted in 1961 in Alexandria, VA. My adoptive parents named me Edward D. Knight, which is still my legal name. I am painting as E.P. Scott. The E is for Edward, the name of my biological maternal grandfather. The P is for the first name of my birthmother. Scott is the name of my birth father, and his mother's maiden name. Raised in Damascus, MD. Graduated George Washington University with a B.A. in Journalism.
Worked at The Washington Post for many years in the Circulation and IT Departments. Now retired.
I am a lifelong resident of Maryland, with my art career as a "second act", after decades of being a mom and an accountant.
I am a representational painter, working primarily in two mediums, oil paint and wool. These two mediums allow me a broader spectrum of techniques to paint my subjects, most often landscapes and trees, which I elevate to the level of spiritual mentors for us all.
I am a recent graduate of the Master Artist Program at The Compass Atelier and have taken numerous felting classes from felt masters in the United States and abroad.
