Carrie Carter (no pronouns) lived most of childhood unable to speak to others outside of the home due to a debilitating anxiety condition called Selective Mutism. Folding paper became a method of grounding, mindful, meditation; a way to block out anxiety and enjoy comforting silence of mind and body. During that time, Carrie also began her journey as a storyteller, writing fictional stories, letters to penpals around the world, and proofreading articles for her journalist father.

Sukanya Mukherji (https://mayurdance.org/director/) has a Master of Dance degree from Rabindra Bharati University, Calcutta, India, and is the recipient of the gold medal in her year. She is the founder and the Artistic Director of Mayur Dance Academy and Company; both are dedicated to promoting Indian Performing Arts, especially the classical dance form Odissi. Under the heading of these organizations, she has staged many highly acclaimed shows since 1993.

The Urban Nation H.I.P.-H.O.P. Choir of Washington, DC is the brainchild of Dr. Sheila Johnson Newman and renowned DC musician Dr. Rickey Payton, Sr., who is the choir’s president and chief executive officer. Focusing on the acronym H.I.P. - H.O.P. (Hope, Integrity, Power - Helping Our People), the choir’s mission is to channel the creative and artistic energies of a targeted group of youth into a dynamic, structured group that will foster excellence in all facets of their lives. Students who range in ages 13 to 18 participate in the Urban Nation H.I.P.-H.O.P.
Marta is a multimedia artist and creator that believes art is one of the most valuable commutation tools available to humanity. Enthusiastic about all art forms, her practice is mostly in the visual arts and traditional textile crafts.
Originally from the region of Andalucía in the south of Spain, she has lived in the United States for the last 40 years.
As a painter, she works and practices with various media and techniques. Building on years of watercolor and acrylic painting experience, she currently enjoys experimenting with various artistic mediums and techniques.
Founded in 2022, Vika Visual Arts Association (VVAA) is a 501(c)(3) arts organization that supports the emergence of visual artists. We believe that all visual artists should have the opportunity to not just create art, but to have his or her artwork visible to a large audience of art consumers.
