Charity Harris is an interdisciplinary artist from Atlanta, and currently residing in the greater Washington D.C. area. She creates sculptures from found and ready-made materials using her Southern upbringing as the driving force for the content that fuels her work—race, religion, gender, and the human relationship to nature. She combines the use of "humble materials" with her love of natural textures and historic costume to explore Southern identity through her perspective as an African-American woman.
The Washington City Paper says, “Happenstance Theater’s ensemble comedy is a gut-busting kind of funny.” The Washington Post describes our work as “visually striking and whimsical without being precious" and calls Happenstance Theater "DC’s leading peddler of whimsy.”
Snowday was founded in early 2008 with the mission of bringing a cappella and vocal music into mainstream education. The group loves bringing a dose of fun to community and private events. As part of the Artivate roster, Snowday travels to dozens of schools each year and members are very active in the local, national and international a cappella communities. While they spend a lot of time touring U.S. schools, they have also traveled internationally, including a trip to Russia as Arts Envoys with the U.S. Department of State.

OUR MISSION AND MANDATE
Lesole Dance Project (LDP) seeks to empower youth and community members to engage in healthy, creative self-expression by providing educational arts programming and opportunities for cultural exchange.
Working in the United States and South Africa, LDP promotes the unique movement vocabulary and choreographic style inspired by the Southern African heritage, and faciltates learning spaces that honour Black artistic excellence.
MISSION: Carpe Diem Arts' mission is to engage communities across generations and cultures through the visual, literary, and performing arts, with an emphasis on the traditional arts and on outreach to diverse and under-resourced audiences in the National Capital region and on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Rachel Schmidt is a mixed media artist who uses her art to explore the impacts of climate change.
The dance, music, and theatre programs at Montgomery College aim to introduce, educate, and involve a culturally diverse student population to the broadest possible range of dance, music, and theatrical experiences. We strive to allow the students to apply it to their lives and take their experiences into the community.
I am an artist. It took me nearly 40 years to say that, despite 40 years of creativity that might say otherwise. My first love is photography. Decades after my introduction to the darkroom and all that is the glory of film, my photography business is booming and I’m thankful for many amazing clients and the freedom it gives me to set my own schedule and be there for my kids. But I missed working with my hands. When a local Silver Spring mosaic artist put out a call for interns, I jumped. Suddenly, I was in love again.
