A native Marylander, Janna graduated from the University of Maryland College of Applied Design in 1974. She put food on the table and husband through law school by teaching multiple grades in a private school. Then the family came - when the last of the 5 kids entered kindergarten she took her first watercolor class and was smitten by the passion to paint.

Rebecca Clark is a Maryland artist whose quietly detailed pencil drawings reflect the sacredness of nature and the interconnectedness of all living things. Growing up immersed in the natural world, her exploration of the woods and creeks along the Chesapeake Bay forged a bond with plants and animals and laid the foundation for a visual vocabulary she would tap into many years later. Rebecca received a BA in Art History from Swarthmore College and studied painting and drawing at the Maryland Institute College of Art and at the Corcoran College of Art + Design.

I was born in the state of Washington, one of the most beautiful places in the continental United States. Most of my formative years were spent growing up on the east coast, during a time when the diversity of life and culture changed at a very fast pace. I began my fascination with art, at an early age during my first class trip to the National Museum of Art. While standing in the corridor, I was so overwhelmed with a multitude of feelings, right then I decided there was only one thing important enough to be in my life, and that was an artist.
I always made art. I grew up in Montgomery County and graduated from Albert Einstein High School, initially choosing Political Science as a college major, but it didn't take long for me to come back to a study of art, with a focus on printmaking. I earned a BA in Studio Art from University of Maryland in College Park.
I worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for more than 25 years, producing advertising material, fine art catalogues, product packaging, and corporate identity packages for clients across the country.
