About the Artist

Downtown Tumbao, Chilango Jazz from Mexico City, accompanies rhythms of Cha cha chá, guaracha, son, samba and more with rich Jazz harmonies. The band combines rising talent of the DMV with seasoned skill, experimenting at the crosswords of new and perennial themes. The sextet grooves with vocals, sax, keyboard, bass guitar, percussion and drums and spotlights high energy, rich, driving tumbaos and sultry vocals. Our band’s mission is to spotlight traditional music of Latin America to preserve and reclaim it in an act of restoration and revival.
