About the Artist

An untapped resource for the city, resonating melodies vibrating through the streets of Washington D.C. Enticing the passerby’s to drop a tip into a bright orange bucket, dance, and grab their phones to post on social media! The very beginning for the band was busking in the gritty streets and metro stations in D.C. With Covid and many restrictions on venue capacity, performing on the streets continues to be their direct connection to the city and its beautiful people. Travis the TromboneKing is the leader, arranger,  and founder of the band. The band began its musical journey in 2017 and was solidified very soon after. By January 2018 they were chosen by Lalah Hathaway to perform as the opener for her show at the Lincoln Theater in Washington, D.C. The band and its feel-good funk have been growing immensely and taking on great new opportunities all over!  We have worked for and with great artists such as Lalah Hathaway, Uptown XO, Envogue, EU, Wale, Cameo, Nitty Scott, Rue Pratt, Backyard Band, JusPaul, Raheem Devaughn, Carolyn Malachi, and many other great artists, community leaders, organizers, etc. We continue to work diligently and grow while providing love and unity for our people and city! As of 2019, the band has legitimized itself as a small business in the state of Maryland. We are officially, The Experience Band & Show, LLC. Today, we continue to book live performances, private events,  and make our original music which is available on all major streaming platform

Artist's Statement

A band that hails as The People's Band because of their humble beginnings on the streets of DC and their continued investment in the community. The Trombone King of DC founded the group in 2017. The band has a very unique funky style of performance and is known for their leader's show-stopping style as a trombonist. They are known for their guaranteed party atmosphere and unique mashup of all genres go-go, rock, soul, pop, R&B, and many more! They even have coined the term "ja-fun-go" by eloquently mashing up jazz, funk, and gogo. When listening to The Experience Band, they provide you with everything from Chuck Brown to the Backstreet Boys.  We believe music is a universal love language and we aim to spread that with our music and shows.
