“The band borrows from the past to create something uniquely its own.” – No Depression
“These guys are apostles of hillbilly boogie” – The Washington Post
“Their confidence and credence are immediately apparent, and their ability to write original material and execute it so adroitly clearly bodes well for whatever lies ahead. Indeed, it should only be a matter of time before this talented bunch find themselves standing proudly at the fore of today’s festival favorites.” – Bluegrass Today
“From fiery barn burners to heartbroken ballads, this talented string quartet is celebrating the region’s rich bluegrass history, carrying the torch for the Old-Line legends who came before.” – Baltimore Magazine
About the Artist
Born on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the High & Wides draw from their members' extensive backgrounds in bluegrass and take the music to a place all their own, recalling an era when old-time, rockabilly, and early rock'n'roll coexisted in a murky soup of hillbilly string band music. Following the Billboard bluegrass top-ten debut success of their 2018 recording, Lifted, in December 2019 the band released their follow-up album, Seven True Stories, which debuted at #6 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart. They are currently completing a tribute album in honor of the many great sibling groups of early bluegrass and country music (Louvin Brothers; Callahan Brothers; Monroe Brothers; etc.), tentatively slated for release in September 2021.Featured Work
